Born and raised in the Okanagan Chef de Ridder landed his first job at Little Tex at the young age of fifteen to help provide for his Mom and Sister. As he developed his skills in the kitchen he found his love and passion for food, which brought him to his first head cook position by the age of eighteen.
After attending KLO’s culinary arts program Chef de Ridder used his culinary skills at various resorts throughout B.C. where he was able to explore other hobbies while he made a living. Working as the Head Chef at a Fish and Game Club in the interior is where he mastered the art of fly fishing. Longbeach Lodge in Tofino developed his fine culinary skills and his love for surfing on the West Coast. Chef de Ridder moved to Mable Lake Golf And Country Club to work under his Chef apprentice Jeff Kinney after his daughter Abbigale was born. This is where he sharpened his skills on the golf course in his spare time. Years later he was brought back to Vancouver Island working as the Sous Chef at Atlas Café in Courtenay.
The Beez Kneez Catering Company’s mobile commercial kitchen sets them apart in their industry because of their versatility with executing their menu; whether it’s a 3 course plated dinner for a wedding of 150 people or serving dinner by the ocean where the guests feet are actually submerged in the sand, no wedding venue poses a problem because everything can be cooked fresh on site and served immediately to their guests.
